The Kingdom Season

Beginning with All Saints Day (1 November), there is a short period of preparation for the feast of Christ the King (last Sunday before Advent) – which concludes the church year. The liturgical colour for the Kingdom Season is red – the colour of kingship (which is why it is also used on Palm Sunday), the Holy Spirit (which is why it is used at Pentecost and at Confirmation service), and of martyrs. In our parish the season concludes with a dual celebration of Christ the King and the St Clement patronal festival (this year on 24 November). The two other key events in this period are All Souls (2 November or a nearby date) and Remembrance Sunday (second Sunday in November).
