Resources for daily prayer

Would you like to deepen your prayer life this Lent? Why not explore the prayer resources on the website? These can be found under Services/Prayer. For instance, www.pray-as-you-go.org has a guided reflection for each day. After a few moments of calming music, we are led to hear a reading, and invited to consider how we might apply this to to our own lives. The short, contemplative exercise concludes as we offer the day to God. The same page also has an eight minute guided review for use in the evening. For those who wish to use the Church of England services of daily prayer, go to daily.commonworship.com/daily.cgi?today_mp=1 (morning) or http://daily.commonworship.com/daily.cgi?today_ep=1 (evening). These acts of worship are more word-based, but are easy to follow, including psalms, readings, canticles and prayers. Or why not visit the Taize website? See the link under Contact Us. At the bottom of the MP3 and Podcasts page (http://www.taize.fr/en_article681.html) we can open up files of beautiful live chanting. These can be used either on their own, or in conjunction with other prayer resources – for example www.sacredspace.ie/daily-prayer. Many of us find it difficult to establish a pattern of daily prayer, but there are many accessible online resources, attuned to the need we all have to find a few moments of peace with God. Lent is a good time to explore these.
