St Clement and St James supports adults who wish to deepen their knowledge and understanding of faith in a variety of ways:
Through regular meetings of Christian meditation, and an annual quiet day, pilgrimage or retreat.
Through a termly programme: Lent groups in the spring, a summer group, and Confirmation courses and an Advent course in the autumn. The
Calendar page and
Events page has forthcoming opportunities, both here and elsewhere. Churches Together in Notting Hill has nine prayer lunches a year. We are also fortunate in having the
Sion Centre for Encounter and Dialogue nearby. We try to promote their events, which usually focus on the relationship between Christianity and Judaism.
Why not try online prayer resources? For instance,
www.pray-as-you-go.org has a guided reflection for each day. For those who wish to use the Church of England services of daily prayer, go to
morning or
evening pages. Or why not visit the
Taize website? The chanting on the MP3 and Podcasts page
here can be used either on their own, or in conjunction with other prayer resources – for example
Sacred Space.
Further information
Christian Meditation and prayer three times a term Come and explore silent prayer, how to find stillness, meditating on the Bible, and how to meditate on the ups and downs of daily life. There is a long tradition of Christian meditation that starts with Jesus’ time spent alone in the desert. Each one hour session will help us be silent and still before God. Silent prayer is based on learning to trust that God does love and accept us just as we really are amidst all the ups and downs of daily life. Dates for the spring term will be published soon.
