An introduction to Christian Meditation

An introduction to Christian Meditation

Thursdays, 7th – 21st July, from 7.30 – 8.30 pm in St Clement’s Church

Sessions offering different ways of meditation and silent prayer to help you start, restart or deepen your prayer life. Come and explore silent prayer, how to find stillness, meditating on the Bible, and how to meditate on the ups and downs of daily life. There is a long tradition of Christian meditation that starts with Jesus’ time spent alone in the desert. So each session will have a led meditation to help us be silent and still before God. Silent prayer is based on learning to trust that God does love and accept us just as we really are amidst all the ups and downs of daily life.

The second part will explore different types of meditation each week. So, for example, we will explore how to meditate with passages from the Bible, sometimes called holy reading or lectio divina, how to meditate on the events of the day that gave us life or which we found draining, and how to use Lutheran meditation beads or ‘pearls of life’.
